JAWAZ THE PAYMENT CARD FOR THE "PEAGE" (Toll) MOTORWAYS.

Easier and faster through Morocco by car.

he "JAWAZ" card, your inevitable friend for the toll highways.

For the last two years, I have not cruised as much as usual on the Moroccan roads, but when I had to go to our embassy in Rabat I was surprised again.

Marrakech-Rabat is a nice ride over up-to-date roads "péage" that are constantly maintained and a distance of 320km that you can cover in about 3 hours with your eyes closed. That you encounter fewer heavy feet has to do with an extensive network of radars and the possibility that you will be referred directly to a prosecutor in the event of a major speeding offense. So we don't have to talk about personal records anymore either.

But apart from the speed option, there are two other variables to consider.

You choose the hours so that you miss the rush hour in Casablanca and Rabat. (You can avoid kilometers of traffic jams)

You get yourself a Jawad card that automatically drives you through toll stations. You can recognize it by the yellow J.

In the old days, when life was uncomplicated, 70% of the toll stations had cash payment points and the others were for the trendsetters who had a yellow J card.

Now, on a busy péage point between, say, Rabat and Casablanca, you can be lucky if you find two of the 10 checkboxes where you can still pay in cash, leading to typical local solutions where everyone is shoving in front of the plastic red-white blocks that distinguish the different lanes. What the fuck, get used to it we live in creative Morocco.

Probably the protests of those who had to work in difficult conditions here are not strange and an automatic reading system connected to a barrier is not subject to the labor laws.

So if you don't want to stand in a frustrating queue at a péage, it is best to buy a ticket like this.

WHAT IS IT?

Jawaz is a remote payment method that allows you to pass through toll stations without stopping, in safety and comfort. Jawaz customers pass through the lanes reserved for them, which are marked with the Jawaz icon, at a speed of 20km/h.

WHERE CAN YOU GET THEM?

You can easily buy it on the motorway network at the toll stations, ADM commercial agencies, and authorized Afriquia stations, or at the authorized Orange shops of Tashilat and Chaabi Cash agencies.

HOW TO RECHARGE?

It can be easily recharged in our commercial agencies, or remotely on the website www.jawaz.ma, via mobile payment applications and through the websites, mobile applications, and ATMs of partner banks, or close to home in the Tashilat and Chaabi Cash agencies.

Have a good trip!

TIP

If you want to check the actual situation regarding the state of the roads or how much you have to pay for toll before you leave, the best place to go is the ADM website or their app.
