Marrakech loved by the film industry.

The man who knew too much ( 1956)
Alfred Hitchcock
Leading actors : James Stewart and Doris Day

Marrakech has always been a pole of attraction for the film industry. And it is easy to understand when still today you can feel these exotic vibrations of the Red City.

Today, you will find at least 248 films or TV series that were filmed, for a smaller or larger part in Marrakech or the surroundings.

Myself, I love this kind of films that have a real recognition value and where your memories are sort of sucked into the film and melted into a Delorean time travel experience.

For me, Hitchcock's next film certainly falls into this category.

Alfred Hitchcock's spy thriller opens in the heart of Marrakech.

After a medical convention, Dr Ben McKenna, his wife, Jo and their son, Hank decide to add a few city trips. Marrakech is the last on the list. Once they arrive in Marrakech, they get caught up in an attempted murder complot when a fellow traveller "Louis Bernard" with whom they met on the bus, is stabbed in front of their eyes. In his last moments, he tells Dr Ben McKenna of a murder plot against the ambassador. The family decides not to share the information for their safety. The moment, their son Hank, is kidnapped, they are in the middle of a conspiracy that becomes tenser, in typical Hitchcock style, as the moment of the murder approaches,

As icing on the cake, I've added 'a cut' of a few minutes where you can see the arrival in Marrakech. (The arrival in Marrakech starts after 4 minutes and 59 seconds) Here and there you can see studio shots but most of the shots are Marrakech as you can still recognize it today. A DREAM.

Ps; Highly recommended to see the whole movie at your favourite streaming service.
